Lainey Wilson gave the audience an unexpected collaboration during the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum’s All for the Hall benefit in Los Angeles. During the event, Wilson welcomed John Mayer to the stage for a live performance of their song Phone, Keys, Wallet.
The appearance marked the first time the pair had performed the track together in concert. During the show, Wilson also shared the story behind Mayer’s involvement, explaining that he first heard the song through a phone speaker while they were both at a Los Angeles studio.
Phone, Keys, Wallet was released in June and features Mayer on guitar, adding another cross-genre collaboration to Wilson’s recent music.
The benefit followed the traditional Nashville guitar-pull format, with artists taking turns performing songs and joining each other onstage. Jelly Roll and Lukas Nelson were also part of the lineup.
All for the Hall events raise money for the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, with proceeds supporting its educational programs and efforts to preserve country music history.
